Before making simple lemon syrup treat yourself to a lemon joke

Once upon a time, a priest traveled to remote towns and villages, and he really liked one small picturesque village, full of greenery, with a beautiful pond, neat houses and sincere inhabitants. There was only one problem – there was no church in the village and people had to walk 20 km far to the neighboring town to pray. The priest collected all his savings and, with the help of kind people, repaired the old hut and converted it into a small church. The villagers were extremely happy and every Sunday they attended the Mass in a new church.

After Sunday Mass, traditionally, the priest went out into the churchyard to wish people a good day. And then one day, when all the parishioners went home after the Mass, the priest noticed a man whom he had never met before. The stranger approached him and said, ” Priest, please be so kind… give me half a lemon, please.”

The priest had a good heart, he immediately ran to the church kitchen, cut off half a lemon and gave it to the stranger.

A week later…

… the story repeated itself – after Sunday Mass the same stranger asked the priest for half a lemon. The priest ran into the kitchen, cut off half a lemon and gave it to the stranger. But curiosity haunted him, so he asked the man: “Tell me, please, why do you need half a lemon?”

The stranger only looked at the priest with eyes full of fear and disappeared in an unknown direction.

On Sunday, everything repeated: the stranger, the churchyard, half a lemon … the priest again could not resist and out of curiosity asked why the man needed half a lemon, but he immediately began to run away. The priest ran after him, but he was not in the best physical condition and didn’t run as fast as the stranger. He only broke out in a sweat, coughed, sat down under a tree and watched the stranger disappear over the horizon.

The priest decided not to give up

he began to train hard, every morning he ran several kilometers, squatted and pumped his abs. On the following Sunday, when the stranger came again for half a lemon, the priest gave it to the man and again asked him why he needed half a lemon. The stranger began to run away, but the physically trained priest ran alongside him this time. And then there was … a pond! The stranger jumped into the water and swam across the pond … and the priest could not swim, so he returned home tired and sad.

After a week of training the priest learned to swim like a skilled athlete! Again Sunday, again the stranger and half a lemon, and again the priest running after the stranger … the pond! No problem! The priest swam after the stranger. But then a new surprise – a high rock! The stranger quickly climbed up on it and disappeared, and the priest remained where he was (he was not good at climbing at all)…

In the weeks that followed, the villagers were shocked by the priest’s strange training: he ran long distances, climbed trees, swam across a pond several times a day, climbed a rock…

On Sunday, again déjà vu…

… the stranger, the lemon, the marathon, the pond, the rock! But this time the physically trained priest, after having climbed out on a rock, grabbed the stranger firmly by the hand (during these weeks of training, he managed to pump up a whole mountain of muscles and began to ask: “son, I am very happy to give you this half of a lemon, I will even give it to you every day, but do not torment me, please, tell me why do you need it every Sunday?”

The stranger tried to run away, but the priest was holding his hand very tightly. So he had no choice but to answer the question: “Okay, I’ll tell you why I need half a lemon every Sunday. But please be good and don’t tell anyone about this”…

The priest was good … so he didn’t tell anyone about it!

My favorite simple lemon syrup

I’m kind too. But I don’t know how to keep secrets at all! And I can’t wait to tell you about my favorite lemonade base recipe! In the summer heat, when you don’t want hearty food and you can live peacefully with salads and fruits alone, well … also with grilled chicken breast, a cold summer lemon drink will just perfectly quench your thirst.

I always make my favorite simple lemon syrup, which is nothing but a homemade lemonade concentrate  and then dilute it with water – it’s super convenient. If you want a classic lemonade, add some plain water. Or would you like a refreshing soda summer lemon drink? Not a problem! Dilute the homemade lemonade concentrate with sparkling water and enjoy.

Perfect lemonade recipe for kids

What other summer lemon drink is loved by children as much as lemonade? This simple lemonade recipe for kids is a win-win!  Store-bought lemonade base can never compete with the homemade one.

One more lemonade base idea

By the way, if you add a little lemon syrup to the tea, you will get such a yummy! (But be good, don’t tell anyone about it!)

To make my 3 ingredient lemonade base you need:

If you are a happy digital kitchen scale owner, I highly recommend using it instead of cups and spoons. Especially when it comes to baking recipes. A scale gives you far more accurate results than volume measurements (everyone scoops ingredients differently). Trust me, using a kitchen scale to measure ingredients will take your baking to a new level.

Is lemonade healthy?

Lemonade is always a sweet drink. But in the homemade version you can control the quantity of sugar (you can also substitute it with honey in equal amounts).

Then, it’s a good source of Vitamin C.

In addition, a glass of cold lemonade is a great way to relax on a hot sunny day. And relax is always healthy ah ah.
